A recent mail mentionned that Netscape included Spyware. I thought Sun did'nt play those dirty games at expenses of our privacy/liberty. Man knows that Intel, since Pentium III, includes spyware into its CPU's (theoretically unactivable, but is man sure that NSA or CIA or else, - and not necessarily US -, are unable to discretly reactivate it ?). Openly Windows XP bears spyware. Does anybody on the list have knowledge abt other such softs/hard which let You inherit spyware at home ?

I just use a trusty aluminum foil hat to keep Their satellites from reading my thoughts. I suggest you do the same.

Sun doesn't own Netscape, it is owned by AOL Time Warner. Here is link from the Washington Post about one of several reports of spyware added to Netscpae by AOL: http://www.newsbytes.com/news/02/175035.html

Yes, the browser skews searches toward MS web sites, it keeps hidden logs of all sites visited even after you delete the cache and history (http://www.fuckmicrosoft.com/content/ms-hidden-files.shtml), the media player logs the DVDs you play, and those are just the things that have been discovered so far. So, is this worse than the MS Internet Exploder? Does anybody actually know? What is one to do? There are only a few search-enginges around. NOne as good as Google, IMHO. --doug, wa2say On Thursday 23 May 2002 06:12, Keith Winston wrote:

Doesn't lynx tell you those images are downloaded from the web server you got the page from? Here's another shocker: the web server can actually see your ip address! This is an outrage! Why should they have my ip address just because I downloaded a web page from their server! Absolutely shocking! -- I swear I do declare - how did you get that there?

Is there any gtk 2.0 built for Suse 7.3(prefered) or 8.0? How do I obtain that? What dependent packages to grab? with yast? Or yes use the RH 7.2 packages from gtk, grab dependecies and hope for the best? I mainly need it for eclipse and openmotif is a little too slow compeared to the gtk implementation. gtk 1.x implemntation however is VERY buggy. Aron
I got news for you... they can see your IP address on any server you hit, no matter what browser you use. The server has to know where to send the data back to when you make a request, right? And here's another news flash... all web servers log traffic, including your IP, what agent is used, what the referring URL is, etc. This has nothing to do with Spyware embedded in the browser or anything, it's a function of the web server. If you don't like this, I'd suggest you stop using the web. - Herman On Fri, 24 May 2002, Anders Johansson wrote: ->On Friday 24 May 2002 16.00, Rick Green wrote: ->> When viewed with lynx, one can clearly see that article is liberally ->> sprinkled with [clearpixel.gif] tags. From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) [web1913]:

The sarcasms of those critics who imagine our art to be a matter of inspiration. --Sir J. Reynolds. Syn: Satire; irony; ridicule; taunt; gibe. -- I swear I do declare - how did you get that there?
