How do you change the resolution of the tty consoles (alt-F1, alt-F2, etc.), e.g. from 1048x768 to 800x600? -- ================================================== Glenn Holmer (Linux registered user #16682) -------------------------------------------------- "You may think this is the finest pearl But it's only cardboard balls, seamed in glue Overwhelming technique; done through diligence" -------------------------------------------------- -Captain Beefheart, "Best Batch Yet" ==================================================

You might want to man fbset to change an already booted system, but I only do it on the vga= kernel parameter and then reboot. The modes are at http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Framebuffer-HOWTO-5.html#ss5.3 800x600 is 788 dec or 0x314 hex and 1024x768 is 791 dec or 0x317 hex -- "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength." You can do this by opening YaST and using System -> Boot Loader. Click the 'Edit' button for the boot mode you want to change the res for, and then use the "VGA Mode" drop-down menu. After that, you'll have to reboot. - -- Jeff Hedley TC Networks, Inc. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFDi1zNN7/CuNq7GE4RAhG7AKDAlSmYGDgTo864vmTjZyLikJ5CWgCfSnlQ Bp0W7YKofl22ztWi3jRUJ0g= =oZ7p -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
