Suse 8.2 Pro Creating Backup Copies Of CDs
Dear Friends, How to create Backup Copies of Distribution CDs Which are having same functionality as that of Original One. My Assistant reported that Copy of first disk he made is not Booting from CD rom for fresh installation. The disk was copied with some S/W which came along with IOMEGA external USB CD writer connected to Win XP machine. Can somebody help us in making backup copies of CDs which will work exactly same as Original Ones. Thanks Best Regards R. S. Patil

The easiest way is to dd the cd's to a suitable directory. cd /tmp dd if=/dev/cdrom of=./SuSE-9.0-CD1.iso bs=8M Use the above command to copy each iso to disk, changing the filename to suit the CD number. Then use K3B to write each iso to a new CD. K3B--->Tools--->CD--->Burn CD ISO image -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------

Shame on you, you should have used linux software - windows doesn't want you to intall linux, so it destroyed your copy :-p I'm kidding. But seriously, you should ask that on a windows mail list, because it is a problem with the software you used. The CD can be copied easily - in linux, at least - and probably in windows as well (nero, probably). -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
