Apache2 in SuSE 8.1 - syntax error in /etc/apache2/suse_loadmodul es.conf
Hi there, Can anyone say how to correct suse_loadmodules.conf without disabling management by SuSEconfig? This file contains typos: e.g, mod_(access.so mod_userlib) the parentheses are *not* my typos -- Regards, Sylvanus A. suse_loadmodules.conf is generated by /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.apache if the typo you mention is created by SuSEconfig. It is basicly scanning /etc/httpd/modules/ directory to find the files which contain modules in your case it is checking "public_html" So either the problem is at /etc/httpd/modules/public_html or in the /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.apache HTH -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

Just edit /etc/sysconfig/apache2 to remove the parens -- it's on the last line. Nobody will notice that it wasn't yast2 that made the changes :-) Then do SuSEconfig --module apache2 and it will rebuild /etc/apache2/suse_loadmodule.conf correctly. Remember that yast2 - system - sysconfig editor configures apache-1, not apache-2. For changes to be recognized, you have to edit /etc/sysconfig/apache2 by hand. But there's another "gotcha": at least on my installation, using the prefork MPM package, /etc/apache2/modules did not get populated with any module definition files, and so suse_define.conf ended up empty. If you're using mod_ssl, add -DSSL manually (and it will probably be overwritten when you next run SuSEconfig). Also suse_text.conf ends up empty, so on startup it will list zero modules being activated. You could manually list your modules here, though it's just cosmetic. I've filed feedback reports on both of these issues. I wonder if I should just copy the modules def file from /etc/httpd/modules/mod_ssl, so SuSEconfig won't wipe me out? James F.
