I'm using kernel 2.4.2 and I have a scsi cd writer & an ATAPI cd writer (hdb), I have set lilo to append hdb=ide-scsi. My normal scsi cd writer is addressed as /dev/scd0 and works OK, anybody know what address I should use to connect the ATAPI cd writer now?
Try "cdrecord --scanbus"....... And it should name every available scsi resource.
It doesn't help:
cdrecord -scanbus Cdrecord 1.9 (i686-suse-linux) Copyright (C) 1995-2000 Jörg Schilling Linux sg driver version: 3.1.17 Using libscg version 'schily-0.1' scsibus0: 0,0,0 0) 'HP ' 'CD-Writer+ 9100 ' '1.0b' Removable CD-ROM 0,1,0 1) * ... 0,7,0 7) *
It has already been mentioned here that the information is in /var/log/messages: ...: scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices ...: Vendor: HP Model: CD-Writer+ 9100 Rev: 1.0b ...: Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 ...: Detected scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 ...: sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 32x/32x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray The device is /dev/sr0 in my case. Have you loaded the driver for your scsi controller? From the looks of the above, you just loaded the scsi emulator. Run "cdrecord --scanbus" again, the order in which the devices appear is the order in which you have to refer to the devices, /dev/scd0, /dev/scd1, etc. -- Rafael
Did you set in your /etc/modules.conf the parameter scsi_hostadapter (something to that effect) ide-scsi ? so it should be something like: scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi Matt On Tue, 29 May 2001, Rafael E. Herrera wrote:

No, just use the option for lilo and the command in boot.local. -- Rafael
Thats what I did to mine, and it works great <shrug>. Matt On Tue, 29 May 2001, Rafael E. Herrera wrote:

Hello again Thanks for the replys. I just tried the command hwclock --systohc Then after rebooting the time was correct . It seems to have fixed it , I will check tomorrow after being shutdown overnight, hopefully the fix will take. Thanks again for tips, and replies. John WM On Mon, 28 May 2001, Alexandr Malusek wrote:
