Here's my tale from today, as I did install Kubuntu 7.0, then messed with 10.2 64-bit some more, and am now back to 10.2 32-bit. Kubuntu uses the 2.20.* kernel in it's 64-bit compile, and it DOES support USB - VERY well, I might add! However, it's sound drivers aren't as good as SUSE, and I never did find the "route" to get my nVidia video working with it....no 3D and no res. above 800x600.
As someone else noted, SUSE is MUCH MORE polished, shipped with more apps. that most of us use, etc. Yast is FAR better than anything else I've seen from any other disto.....PERIOD!
My only complaint out of all this, is that there's STILL NO excuse for NOT having USB working properly with 64-bit AMD based systems, and needs to be done as an upgrade ASAP.

I guess they'll do it, but they are kind of busy with new kernel. Here is Bogdan's post: "I can confirm you that with 2.6.21-rc7-43 the usb works on Athlon64 (in my installation I have to manually turn on ACPI). However, I have to compile the kernel with iptables compiled directly into the kernel, in order to have Internet access." You are now back to 32 bit, so you are not interested in compiling the kernel. -- Regards, Rajko. http://en.opensuse.org/Portal -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
