[opensuse] Webcam Crystal Eye on Acer Travelmate 7720
Hi, I am trying to have this web cam working. The uvcvideo driver is loaded, kopete, etc... see it, but I cannot get any picture out of it. Is any one went into this problem? Thanks. Nop, this is not the problem. Actually this is the laptop of one my friend. who, after I convince him to use linux instead of MS fall in love with openSUSE. The only left over is this cam (also the mic) before he'll flush the MS partition!. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not to rain on the parade (I have little hope of getting My Acer's WebCam up and running any time soon), but are You sure that You have the right driver for it? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Does the cam show up in lspci or is it just another usb device. My wife's dell XPS arrived pre-loaded with ubuntu and it all worked. Web cam and all. The only app that used the webcam was skype. -- ----------JSA--------- Someone stole my tag line, so now I have this rental. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It's on the USB bus ID: 0402:5602 ALI Corp. Video Camera Controller, there is no mention of it using lspci (as root on that system). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well if its usb, then you wouldn't expect to see it in lspci, I guess. -- ----------JSA--------- Someone stole my tag line, so now I have this rental. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Back to that old one! After compiling the uvc driver from svn, I got it working under kopete, so, as far uvc is concerned, the driver is working. Under skype, it's a different story ;-( Anyway, skype are aware of the problem and said they are working on it and should be fixed in a future release! Wait and see. uvcvideo got detected and installed. Googling about that cam show it to be the proper driver. Andre. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
