PacBell uses Staic IP's since around January I believe here in the Bay Area. The change was for the "home" or Basic account. Yes, many of us still have the single IP accounts with the external Alcatel DSL modem. You will now get an Internal in most cases, or can upgrade to the 5 IP account for $79.
My wife just called and after 3 hours the DSL installers just left. Results, one external modem (they were trying to install an internal, thank God they couldn't), and an additional network card that they left me for a spare. However, PacBell is now PPPOE so I DO NOT have a static IP and I have to run a PPPOE client to connect. Can't wait to get home to try it out!
