[opensuse] 11.0 and Google Earth
Hi, moving my laptop (Inspiron 6400 - intel 945 GM GPU) from 10.2 to 11.0 found an annoying situation, Google Earth is REALLY slow, already checked and DRI is enabled, tried disabling COMPOSITE and that didn't help. I know this is not a top of the line 3D GPU, but the behavior in 10.2 was a notably better... roamer:~/bin> glxinfo |grep render direct rendering: Yes OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 945GM 20061017 roamer:~> rpm -q xorg-x11-driver-video xorg-x11-driver-video-7.3-138.5 Probably this affects other 3D application, but only tried Google Earth so far... Just to be sure, are you comparing only the opensuse version? Meaning, are you using the same version of Google Earth? The last time I upgraded Google Earth here, startup time increased dramatically. Overall, it seemed slower, and this was all on 10.3, so I am suspecting you have installed this newer version and are comparing it to the older version that was faster. My current (slow) version is 4.3.7204.0836 (beta) -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Reporting back, disabling atmosphere effect/view helped a lot (View --> Atmosphere). Regards, Ciro -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
