I pulled the lx_suse off CD1 and it installed in /usr/src/linux, then I ran make xconfig, set things up the way I needed then ran:

make dep make clean make bzImage make modules make modules_install make bzlilo

Everything looked good, so I rebooted, came up o.k.

I was having problems with wvdial not seeing my modem, so I started poking around and noticed I didn't have a /etc/modules.conf.

maybe you have a /etc/conf.modules ?

Any ideas?
