RE: [SLE] 2GB file support for proftpd and Samba PROBLEM SOLVED!
Hello All,
As it turns out, I was able to recompile proftpd and it now works great
with Large File support.
I just had to had this to the CFLAGS line in Make.rules:
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE
I have yet to try it with Samba but I'm pretty sure it will work.
Thanks for all who gave their feedback.
Seth

Yes, I get errors on both Samba and FTP clients. Once they hit 2 GB they fail.
I see. After doing some reading (thanks Mads!) it appears that neither SAMBA nor NFS would work, and FTP is questionable if it works at all. If you want to move 2^64MB files on Linux, you still need a real 64-bit architecture like AXP or SPARC. A moment of silence for the mighty but fallen, DEC Alpha...we will miss you. ===== -- -=|JP|=- Hit me! - http://www.xanga.com/cowboydren/ Jon Pennington | Debian 2.3 -o) cowboydren @ yahoo . com | Auto Enthusiast /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | ICQ UIN 69 67 29 31 _\_V __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Good work! I'm not being sarcastic at all when I say that I enjoy being proven wrong at times like these. ;) This is one for the archives... ===== -- -=|JP|=- Hit me! - http://www.xanga.com/cowboydren/ Jon Pennington | Debian 2.3 -o) cowboydren @ yahoo . com | Auto Enthusiast /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | ICQ UIN 69 67 29 31 _\_V __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
