realize things change. There is nothing in the manual that says you have to upgrade everytime a new version comes out, in fact I myself am waiting until 7.1 is released because I just got 6.4 and I am very happy with it. You are right there isn't much more in 7.0 than there was in 6.4, so wait for 7.1 and the jump will be better.
I, too, will be waiting for 7.1 as I don't see anything in 7.0 that is going to get me to buy it. And sorry to bring the version numbers up again, but it seems like SuSE is just tying the major version number in with the year of release. 7.1 is most likely going to have the big changes so shouldn't it really be 8.0 then??? Does anyone have experience here with running a software distribution company? Didn't think so! IIRC the initial mention from SuSE was that 7.0 would have both the new kernel *and* the stable XFree 4.x. Apparently neither of these were ready in time, but the Marketing plan was already in motion. Would you rather they included an unknown *major* component or two (kernel + X)? I know I wouldn't! Top marks to SuSE for not taking the easy way out and giving us what we seem to want (now), but would only bitch about (later). -- This Email is 100% Virus Free! How do I know? Because no Microsoft products were used to generate it! XFree86 4.0 is included and the default for those chipsets supported by it. It is stable on those, I'm running it right now (and I always do default configuration and don't hack anything any more or install other software, no time).
