Chris This is a known issue. If I remember right you can edit the grub loader. You edit menu.lst (/boot/grub) I think I just deleted the two extra ones. Be careful and hopefully some else on the list can confirm this. If your using LILO I'm not sure how you get rid of it.
Hope this helps. -- Russ Linux register user 441463 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I don't have SLED, but my guess is that the 2.6.16 one is the old kernel, while the currently selected default one is the new kernel. So this gives you a chance to use the old one if there is a problem. As far as editing the boot menu, it's been asked a few times on here. I'm not sure why there is this intensive desire to clean up the boot menu. Why not leave the entry there? But the grub menu can be edited via YaST : System -> Boot Loader -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ UNIX is user-friendly. As Russ already said, this is a known issue. The original 2 entries should be deleted in case of a kernel update, but they aren't. This will be fixed with the next maintenance update. Thus, the last (original) 2 entries - "Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10" and "Failsafe -- Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10" are redundant, you can just delete them either by using the YaST2 Bootloader module or by editing /boot/grub/menu.lst manually. In case of lilo, you can do the same by editing /etc/lilo.conf. If you manually edit those configuration files, be aware to set the "default" value to the first entry, so it gets booted by default. I hope this helps.
Chris
