RE: [SLE] Adjusting cron for clock skew's..
The way I got round this was to set an alias in /etc/aliases root: emailaddress@somewhere.com, \root then run newaliases. This way I get a copy sent to root and a copy to the other email address specified. There are a number of ways to do this - as always - this way works perfectly for me. Kev

Isnt there a possibility just to set the email adress that cron mails.. I want to recive all other mails that root recives, just not that silly mail from cron Per Eriksson WCT #1857 webbie@phanatic.net -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Are you using netdate? How about redirecting stdout to /dev/null: netdate timer.sunet.se >/dev/null In that case you only get mail if it doesn't succeed. To log output use: netdate timer.sunet.se >>/var/log/netdate (or other file) instead. /Mattias __ Mattias Hermansson, mattias@hemmet.chalmers.se Netadmin, Stiftelsen Chalmers Studenthem -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

To stop cron mailing have a look at crontab(5) and the example given. Extract.. In addition to LOGNAME, HOME, and SHELL, cron(8) will look at MAILTO if it has any reason to send mail as a result of running commands in ``this'' crontab. If MAILTO is defined (and non-empty), mail is sent to the user so named. If MAILTO is defined but empty (MAILTO=""), no mail will be sent. Otherwise mail is sent to the owner of the crontab. This option is useful if you decide on /bin/mail instead of /usr/lib/sendmail as your mailer when you install cron -- /bin/mail doesn't do aliasing, and UUCP usually doesn't read its mail.
