Oh sorry, It was Jbuilder4. I'm prepared to give them another chance. However, I'm not sure I understand what the GNU/Linux project actaully implies and what effect or role it has in business. If I undestand it correctly, I just got a creepy $$-type feeling from borland. But, I hope I'll be able to understand this whole world better. Thanks, Robert Napolitano

Jbuilder is not GPL ect.. Its a closed source java ide ect.. although they provide a free downloadable version and/or a very low cost version around 90.00

If you want an open source gpl version, I am sure there are several out there. Post and some one will ansser on that one.

Like I said , thees is a commercial vesion , in the end they hope to make some money off of devolpers and programmers. They need to amke a living as well. Borland is realy making an effort to get into the linux market , and has put a lot into the wine project when it ported wordperfect to linux. They havee also just anounced that Kylix will be released mid month. This is an object pascal RAD tool clone of there windows delphi rad ide. This will provide linux wiith a REAL RAD tool that is code compatable with Delphi and realy allow the delphi third party to easly port code/componets/libs to kylix with there clx visiual component lib. Hopefully this will bring a new generation of programmer into linux , sort of like what happened with VB in the corperate world. Delphi/kylix is much better (imho) than VB and uses a real language pascal and does not run up agenst the brick wall theat mey complian about in VB. I have neveer used VB , and have been very partial to borland products , mainly Delphi.
to understand this whole world better.
Personaly I favor delphi/kylix over there jbuilder product. I find c/c++/java to be quit cryptic and have a liking to pascal/object pascal. If you are new to java , then I would stronly sugest using the sun SDK and realy learn the basics of java first. Then go on and look into one of the meny IDE for java. There are MANY good ides out there forte, visualage , jbuilder , simplicity and many more. Go to google and doa search on java ide and see what it pulls up.
