Hello all: I have manually edited lilo.conf and run lilo. After this my system can not boot. It gives the following error message 4 or 5 times: request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-464c Boot from install DVD works. I have reinstalled the kernel, run the install DVD's repair function, nonoe of them helped. What does this mean and how can I fix it? Thanks, IG ________________________________________________________________________________________ BLOGTER - elindultunk! That's ELF. What exactly did you do?

It means you made a mistake when you edited lilo.conf. But since you didn't tell us what you changed, all I can offer is the crystal_ball section above. It is my only method of reading your mind. It isn't fool proof, but at least it's inaccurate. With more information, someone might be able to help
Thanks for the answer. The problem is solved but still don't know what caused it.

Well, I can't remember what I did exactly since I did different things. Basically I installed a new 32 bit system and wanted setup a new lilo on MBR so that it would chainload the bootloaders on the corresponding partitions. Probably I made a mistake somewhere. Anyway, I booted up the system from the CD and installed a new lilo setup from yast and after this the system could boot. I haven't got time yet to investigate what happened. section above.

I was not sure that the problem was related to lilo and lilo.conf that was why I did not want to write a long story first.
