Hi We're trying to build the new sssd beta on 12.3 ./configure fails with configure: error: "Please install Samba 4 development libraries" We have installed the libraries necessary to build Samba4: libacl-devel python-selinux autoconf make \ python-devel gdb sqlite3-devel libgnutls-devel binutils \ policycoreutils-python setools-libs selinux-policy \ setools-libs popt-devel libpcap-devel keyutils-devel \ libidn-devel libxml2-devel libacl-devel libsepol-devel \ libattr-devel zlib-devel cyrus-sasl-devel gcc \ krb5-client openldap2-devel libopenssl-devel\ bind-utils bind-lib We can build sssd 1.9.5 with this plus what we have installed. Fedora have 'Samba 4 development libraries' but we don't. Any idea what they could be over and above what we already have? We can build Samba 4 no problem. Lynn,
If you don't get an answer here, then I would repost on the opensuse-packaging list. Discussion of dependencies is directly on-topic there.
The only slightly confusing part is someone may reply in specfile syntax.
eg. Add "BuildRequires: samba4-devel" is osc/obs/specfile speak to add a line to the specfile that makes the below happen:
Chroot to local dir
Install base packages needed to build
zypper in samba4-devel
Build (./configure;make)
Install to target dirs in chroot
Collect all the installed files and make a rpm out of them
OBS does the above in a vm, then trashes the vm for the next package build. That ensures all obs builds are in virgin VMs.
Osc maintains the buildroot on your local disk. It keeps track of what packages are installed, so it only does the zypper in if the package is not already in the chroot setup. If you delete the BuildRequires line, the next time you "osc build" it will delete the package from the chroot dir.

Hi The problem is that we don't have a stable samba4-devel. I've tried with the unstable samba4 repos, but the libraries are incorrect and need a lot of ldconfig to get them recognised. We seem to be the only distro who does not supply a samba4-devel which just works. I've built samba4 on the same client where we are building in an effort to get the missing libraries, but nada. I'm trying over on the Fedora list but understandably there's not much interest in openSUSE; because sssd is a Fedora project, for them it just builds. A pity. Has anyone built sssd 1.10beta1 on openSUSE? Thanks L x -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Add Lars (??) to your cc list and ask him. I believe he is a suse employee and part of the samba devel team. I've always had the impression we have good samba support, but I don't use it much. Even better, create a bugzilla. He loves them and encourages them at every opportunity, but I haven't seen him on this list recently. If you do that, be sure and add lars as the bug owner. I assume you can find his full name and email by checking who the samba maintainer is in obs (build.opensuse.org, search for samba, goto devel project, click on users), or just by searching the archives. The new opensuse.markmail.org search portal has the list email since the first of the year and is easy to use. Greg -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail. You probably have a file config.log which tells you exactly what the problem is. You should attach this file to your bug report Anders
