I have installed the new KDE 3.2 beta2 in my SuSE 9 system and I do like some of the things that they improved on but there are some issues that I would like to see if anyone can help me fix. The first one is that the login manager kdm has lost the selection that will allow me to log into Gnome. How can I get it back? The second one is no sooner than I try and start Konqueror as a web browser, it dies with a signal 6. If you need more output on this (eror messages), I will be glad to provide it. I will see about searching with Google through Mozilla but I thought that I would ask here because maybe someone may have had this issue before and could lead me in the right direction. Thanks! I haven't noticed that, I shall have a look later when I reboot on 2.6.1-mm3.

Run konqueror from the command line so you can see the output, mine here complained about libkrpmview.la. Go to http://bugs.kde.org and search on "konqueror crash", then libkrpmview or whatever you see, in my case it said it was a suse thing and to "rm /opt/kde3/lib/libkrpmview*", but I moved it to /weeds, a directory I store stuff in just in case. First time it's not crashed, but yet to see if I'm completely out of the woods.

Sometimes it's just knowing where to look and bugs.kde.org is THE place.
Thanks!

Thanks Sid, I will keep this one in hand for the next time I get adventurous. Funny how something like this can cause so much frustrations. I will look at the KDE site to see if the other questions that I had are answered. Again thanks! Marshall Heartley

Thanks to you also as your post made me chase this bug up. I'd seen it on this box and decided I wouldn't install 3.2 beta2 on the laptop, now I know I can go ahead and upgrade that too. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer Linux Only Shop.

I forgot to mention that under the menu there were all sorts of window managers, notably GNOME was missing. /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc:SessionTypes=kde,gnome,windowmaker,blackbox,openbox,fvwm2,icewm,mwm,twm,failsafe /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc:SessionTypes=kde,windowmaker,mwm,twm,failsafe I don't know why we have both those files, they've always confused the situation as to which one is used, you can add gnome to the second one, I'll do likewise here. Regards Sid.
