RE: [SLE] printing problems
You might want to have a look at http://www.linuxprinting.org, and more specifically at this URL: http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-PSC_1210 for some tips. Hi Haven't got the PSC-1210 printer thingy, but I have got the OfficeJet 6110 printer/scanner/fax/copier. This is working fine, attached to my linux box and networked as a printer for my windy 98 m/cs, so it is possible!!! I am using the CUPS print system, which works well and recognises the printer straight away once it has been set up using 'hpoj'. Get that from the HP web site, they are very committed to linux and have a number of good drivers etc. Laurence BTW it was also recognised immediately by sane for the scanner, but ofcourse you cannot do both at once!! The hpoj is a great project sponsored by HP (to sell more printers to us gadget freak Linux users.) The hpoj package that came on my SuSE CDs got an OfficeJet K series working fine very quickly (actually much better than with that other OS - xsane was much nicer for me than the Windows scan utility that came on the HP CD.) The PSC1210 support seems to be more recent. Judging by the table here: http://hpoj.sourceforge.net/suplist.shtml you might be ok using an DJ3320* CUPS driver if your printer is net-connected - but if you need USB there seems to be a need for a CVS download + compile of bleeding-edge code. Hope this points you in the right direction. * the DJ3320 driver also seems not to be built-in to SuSE. Downloads are from another HP sponsored project :- http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/
