Hy everyone. Is someone here running linux on a laptop?. Inspiron 5000 has a little pin that each time the computer is on and I close it, it set the computer stand by or something. Whenever that happens and I open it again it is totally freeze. Is it any way to fix or configure this? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo! http://intern.linpro.no/~janl/inspiron-5000.html#suspend
This will tell you how to set it up so that suspend works.
http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/kharker/linux-laptop/welcome.html
this is the main site. There are two websites on the 5000
Hope this helps.

I have one of these laptops. It all works perfectly except the "Standby" function, which crashes the machine hard. If you use KDE you can run kcmlaptop to set up the power down config. Ensure you always use "Suspend", not "Standby" and you'll be fine. You can use the (apparently undocumented) Fn-A to do a suspend-to-disk.
