[opensuse] Gnome crashes after last yast security update (suse 10.1)

Starting SCIM as daemon ... SCIM has been successfully launched. Smart Common Input Method 1.4.4 /etc/X11/xim.d/es/50-scim started sucessfully waiting for X server to shut down FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing. Previously, I noticed that it complained of no speedo module, so I dissabled it from the config. Enabling it I see: (EE) Failed to load module "speedo" (module does not exist, 0) Otherwise, it crashes the same way as above. It works now. Needed incantations: Uninstall many packages installed recently, reinstall some, downgrade others. Dance around Tux. Whatever. Remove tmp directory contents. Start gnome as root; if it works, try as user. Reinstall everything. Keep fingers crossed. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
