Hey Group; I have just noticed a problem that is fixable but could lead to a reload by mistake. The problem is that everything look correct at boot and even into runlevel. On this machine I have runlevel three and gpm enabled. This combination has worked for years until today. I booted up and everything went fine all the way to a switch to runlevel 3 and then the Login: prompt. No visual errors. Try to login and the keyboard was locked up (NUMLOCK LED failed to toggle). Now what? I was gone last night so nothing should have changed. It turned out to be a unplugged ps2 type mouse. At runlevel 3 with gpm the failure caused a "killproc" which stopped the rest of the loading process. Plugged it back in, rebooted and it was fixed. Hope this may help someone else before reloading -- 73 de Donn Washburn __ " http://www.hal-pc.org/~n5xwb " Ham Callsign N5XWB / / __ __ __ __ __ __ __ 307 Savoy St. / /__ / / / \/ / / /_/ / \ \/ / Sugar Land, TX 77478 /_____/ /_/ /_/\__/ /_____/ /_/\_\ LL# 1.281.242.3256 a MSDOS Virus "Free Zone" OS Email: n5xwb@hal-pc.org Info: http://www.knoppix.net
