Hi All,
First thanks to everyone who wrote to me about the Java question. I think I'm going to turn the programming job down, cause I've got other fish to fry.
So on to first new question... I'm trying to connect two computers, one's fine. But the other can not find the network card. I've got a Linksys Ether 16 LAN card (it's a isa card). I first tryed the Ne2000 and got this error:
Use the ne 1000/2000 driver and set the io and irq in the options line. ie irq=1- and iobase=0x300. It looks like you are using the pci driver not the isa driver. the isa drive is in the pick list as ne1000/2000 isa card. Next make user you have use the dos linksys setup tool to set the card to the io address and irq address. If you dont have the disk you can get it from www.linksys.com. Dont forget to set the topllolgy , ie ehternet , thin coasx or thick ethernet ect.. You may need to play with the irq and io base address a while. If you have windows on it , set it up under windows than use the same settings under linux.
Jan 17 10:30:04 Opus kernel: loading device 'eth0'... Jan 17 10:30:04 Opus kernel: ne.c: No PCI cards found. Use "io=0xNNN" value(s) for ISA cards.
Then I tried ethernet express and got this error:
Jan 17 11:37:03 Opus kernel: eexpress.c: Failed to register card at 0x300. Jan 17 11:37:03 Opus kernel: loading device 'eth0'... Jan 17 11:37:03 Opus kernel: eth0: EtherExpress at 0x300, rejected: invalid address 000000000000
Can anyone give me a clue on what I'm doing wrong? BTW the system is a 486/66 with 8mb ram and running SuSE 5.2...
Next question...
On my second computer I've got an Orchid Fahrenheit 64 Video card. It's a PCI card with 2mb ram. Does anyone else have it? Right now I'm running the Fahrenheit VA device with the SVGA server. My questions here are #1 there are 3 Fahrenheit devices but none say "64" how can I tell for sure which one is correct? #2 I believe that I should be using the S3 server instead of the SVGA server, but if I change it could anything happen to my montor, ie burn up? #3 I know the numbers for my montor and they are set. If I "play" with the devices and servers to get the best combo could I mess up my montor? BTW, this system is a 486/100 with 32mb running SuSE 5.2.
TIA!!!
