[opensuse] dhcppc0, how to change
As my hostname I get the letter combination dhcppc0. Do not know where this name comes from and where and how to change it in Yast or with a console.. Could somebody help me out. Google was no big help in this respect. -- Linux User 183145 using a Pentium III , powered by openSUSE 11.2 (i586) Kernel: 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop KDE Development Platform: 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2) "release 234" 18:03pm up 1:45, 3 users, load average: 0.60, 0.92, 0.87 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You may be using dhcp client to get an IP, and have it configured to get the host name from the dhcp server. If you don't like that, enter network configuration (YaST) and change it. Or, configure the dhcp server to give a different name to you - for this, read its documentation (router?) or ask your network administrator. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
