[opensuse] How the heck to you stop screen blanking on Opensuse 12.2
This is driving me nuts. I have an Opensuse system I use as a mythfrontend. How the heck to you stop screen blanking on Opensuse 12.2 running gnome? I've tried every setting I can find that has to do with power or screen saver, yet after about 20 mins it the screen starts to fade to black/blank. Hitting a key on the remote does nothing to stop the blanking, I have to physically hit a key on the keyboard attached to the system. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, James Hi What do you see from the output of 'xset q' in a terminal, then look at xset --help on disabling blanking.

Try another desktop? If you watch movies, the desktop is irrelevant. Try xfce. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Or run the mythfrontend directly, without kde/gnome/etc. That's what I do, works very well. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (16.4°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free DNS hosting, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I'm not sure what you mean by run it directly. How do you do this without a window manager? Thanks James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

And maybe the "screen blanking" is not coming from your operating system but from the bios. xset commands didn't work. As far as I can tell the energy savings in the BIOS are disabled. I installed xcfe and after disabling the screen saver and changing the power settings I think it's good. Never tried xfce before, but so far I like it. Thanks, James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
