Help with device symlinks
Having totally bashed my sound system going from a kraxel 2.6.2 kernel back to a k_athlon-2.4.21-166 with a munged /etc/modules.conf I cannot get my Ensoniq 1371 Audio PCI sound card to operate with KDE3.2. One thing I have noticed is that the symlinks are missing and I added one in /dev so that $ ls -l /dev/dsp lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2004-02-12 14:49 /dev/dsp -> dsp0 And now I can run mplayer and play wave sounds but KDE still cannot initialize the sound system not startup a mixer. Can someone be so kind to do the following on a 2.4.21-166 kernel and send me the output? $ find /dev -type l -print | xargs ls -l On the offchance that it is a missing symlink. I uninstalled all alsa 1.0.1-9 rpms and reinstalled the alsa 0.9.6 counterparts and recovered my old /etc/modules.conf file. TIA.
