Location of newer kernel sources?
Where on the SuSE website can I find the sources for the newer (2.4.2, 2.4.3, maybe 2.4.4) versions of the kernel? I gather that they are somewhere on the site. Paul Abrahams

Look for something like ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mantel. I just picked up 2.4.4 there a couple of nights ago, and it seems to be working quite nicely. Mike -- Powered by SuSE 7.1, Kernel 2.4.4 KDE2.1.1 For a great linux portal try http://www.freezer-burn.org
Yes, the "test" kernels are published by Hubert Mantel in his dir at this location: ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mantel/next I think we have passed this on a few times before, but here it is again. BTW, there has been some asking for RPM's and these tar balls are not build into RPMs because they are for testing and those that want to be on the bleeding edge. The RPMs that are released by SuSE for upgrade purposes are in the suse_update area in the pub/ on ftp.suse.com in the kernel series and for the sources in the d1 or d2 series. Yes. Unfortunately we are still tracking down some nasty bugs in 2.4.4... Sure: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/7.1/d2/lx_sus24-2.4.2.SuSE-5.i386.rpm Bye, LenZ -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH mailto:grimmer@suse.de Schanzaeckerstr. 10 http://www.suse.de/~grimmer/ 90443 Nuernberg, Germany One who is always in a stew generally goes to pot.

It appears that installing the 2.4.2 kernel sources has a conflict with the 2.4.0 version of linclude, which is in the d1 collection. But the 7.1 update directory on the website doesn't have a d1 subdirectory. What should I do about linclude to get and install an appropriate version? Paul Abrahams

Simple - remove linclude. It just includes the kernel header files, which are also included in the full kernel source package (this is why they conflict).
