Hi, My 7.1 update has finally arrived. The process was painless and I have also updated to KDE2.1. All very smooth. I do have one problem though. The default 2.2.18 kernel was installed duing the update. Once everything was complete I went to YAST 1 and selected the 2.4 kernel then ran LILO still in YAST 1 and rebooted. Back came the 2.2.18 Kernel. I have noted corresspondance on the list about selecting both 2.2.18 and 2.4.0 on this list but that has been with ref to a fresh install. Anyone come across this particular problem during upgrades -- Stu "The specification said Windows 95 or better, so I installed Linux"

after doing this (selecting 2.4 with yast1 after already ahving 2.2.18), you should have TWO kernels now, default one being 2.2.18 and 2.4 optional - selectable during boot time in the lilo menu (the graphical one or the ascii one, in both)

It wasn't so until I manually fixed /etc/lilo.conf. -Kastus

Thanks for that. I checked /boot and the 2.4 stuff was there so I edited /etc/lilo.conf to add 2.4, ran lilo, rebooted and 2.4 was there and loaded no problem. Don't know what the problem was using YAST1 though:(( -- Stu "The specification said Windows 95 or better, so I installed Linux"
I just checked this on my box, and gave it a run, I had to edit lilo.conf to include the linux 2.4 kernel and then run lilo. ~Robert K Davies Michael Hasenstein wrote:

Hi Stu, All, I'm running Suse7.1 KDE2.01, Hmm.. looking for KDE2.1 installation. Browsing through "ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/KDE2/update_for_7.1" but don't know what files should I download for installation. Can tell me where can I get KDE2.1 and install via Yast2 ? Thanks & regards, Sunny.
