Now that we have anti-aliasing fonts back I know beg the big question: Where can I get decent free fonts from? I am after some form of Olde English for my Lord of the Rings KDE2 theme desktop and need them for this...(Also would be grand to make some icons too...). Thanks, Matt PS How do you make fonts?
Look at the Font HOWTO or search on www.google.com. Make icons with gimp. Designing your own fonts is hard and time-consuming. Typically you define each character as a path with curves defined by bezier cubic sections, which gets drawn and filled by the font renderer. You'll also need to know some geometry, programming, font layout, graphic design (serifs, kerning, antialiasing),... You'll need to decide truetype, PostScript type1, metafont,... JDL StarTux wrote:
