Strange boot sequences for 9.2 Pro (0003)
Hello, Today I had to reinstall 9.2 as MySQL Max was missing from the CDs and I need to use it. So I started with the DVD but for some reason it would not boot on my computer. I assumed it is because my DVD-ROM device is a few years old and sure enough when I tried it on a new machine it worked no problems. So I had to use the old cheat approach and booted from CD 1 and as soons as yast and the kernel where loaded and I had to choose the language for the install I popped out CD 1 and put in DVD 1...all is going well so far. But it is a strange way of doing things....and why is there less on the CDs. Does anyone now how to change the source of installation so that after having installed from CDs you can choose the DVD as the source...I tried that with success? Thanks. On my PIII I do not currently have a DVD. Would the clean install recognize the new hardware in time to use it? I would be booting from CD1 off the CDRW on IDE2 master figuring that the DVD would be on IDE2 slave? -- _______ _______ _______ __ / ____\ \ / / ____|_ _\ \ / / | | \ \ /\ / / (___ | | \ \ / / | | \ \/ \/ / \___ \ | | \ \/ / | |____ \ /\ / ____) |_| |_ \ / \_____| \/ \/ |_____/|_____| \/

I've got the DVD-ROM from my sisters 6 year old Compaq system, and it has worked fine for anything DVD, including installs of 8.2 and now 9.2 on my system. I figure it's the makers...seems like some are starting to get pretty damn slack with their products nowadays (new DVD-ROM's it seems especially).

YaST surely?
Thanks. George
