I am still having problems with the 3c905c. It will hang during shutdown at the "eth0 " message and requires a hard reset to get un-wedged. It will load and work fine otherwise except for hanging the system during a long transfer on the LAN. This requires a reset also. I have downloaded the latest driver sources from both 3Com and http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers I have tried every way I know to compile both drivers and have been unsuccessful. The closest I have gotten is with the 3Com version but it compiles without SMP. I have tried replacing the sources in /usr/src/linux-2.2.13/drivers/net and doing a "make modules and make modules_install" as well as compiling the sources with: "gcc -c 3c90x.c -O2 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -fomit-frame-pointer \ -fno-strength-reduce -pipe -m486 -malign-loops=2 \ -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=486 \ -DMODULE -D_SMP_ -D_KERNEL_" and then copying the module to /lib/modules/2.2.13-SMP/net. Still no luck. Does anyone have any insight as to what I am missing or doing wrong? Hi Bob, i've the same card. I used Yast to configure the 3c905c NIC and then compiled my 2.2.14 kernel with network support and Vortex/Boomerang drivers. hope this help, cheers, Stefano BobF ha scritto:

Works for me, using the standard Suse 6.2 Kernel Never had a problem at all The only thing I could suggest is use a dosdisk to boot up and run the config util and disable plug and play Works on standard 2.2.13 kernel, havnt tried 2.2.14 yet Mike On Mon, 7 Feb 2000, spapin wrote:

Sounds like a typical 3C hardware problem. Overpriced junk. IMHO. Try a $9.00 ne2000 and I bet your problems go away. Flame suit on!! BobF wrote:
