SUSE Blue Frame in Text mode
Hello the Net: I am using SUSE 9.0 Pro in text mode as root and I want to eliminate the blue SUSE frame. I would prefer the white text on a black background for higher contrast. Thanks, Stan zzzzzz

2 approaches: 1] ctrl-alt-f2 or f3... to f6 will give you a new console [ctrl-alt-f1 to get back to the original], which will be in your preferred colour scheme. 2] more tricky, remove all of the bootsplash packages. Then you have to remake your initial ramdisk if I recall. Like you think you have installed it when you add the bootsplash package, but then it needs the right resolution and a remake of the initial ramdisk [I think] before it works. So I think I have suggested the reverse hth Vince Littler

Not sure how to tell you to get rid of the blue frame. But if you hit alt an F2 it will take you to another terminal an its black with white text there. I do that when I want to have black an white colors. Also I use it to have more then one login person/ account logged in at the same time. You can use alt an f2, f3, f4 ect ect .... hope that helps for now jack

Good day Stan, YaST2 -> System -> Editor for /etc/sysconfig Files -> System -> Boot -> SPLASH -> no Reboot. You will not have the nice progress bar during boot -- but you will get your white-on-black text in stead of the blue SuSE frame on console 1. Best regards :o) Johnny :o)

Stan, And another option is to put "splash=native" in your grub or lilo boot line. and then your resolution is determined by the "vga=0x31a" (on my machine) setting. Stan
