Suddenly one machine doesn't boot nicely, some modules seems to be missing (it worked few months nicely so far). Few reboots usally "helps". What to do?? There is another machine with same configuration and there are no problems so far. <notice>start services (network) Setting up network interfaces: lo lo IP address: 127.0.0.1/8 doneWaiting for mandatory devices: eth-id-00:0d:87:ce:54:57 20 19 18 modprobe: FATAL: Module evdev not found. 17 modprobe: FATAL: Module evdev not found. 16 modprobe: FATAL: Module evdev not found. 15 modprobe: FATAL: Module ohci_hcd not found. modprobe: FATAL: Module ohci_hcd not found. 14 modprobe: FATAL: Module ehci_hcd not found. modprobe: FATAL: Module pciehp not found. modprobe: FATAL: Module sis_agp not found. 13 12 11 10 9 8 7 5 4 3 2 1 0 eth-id-00:0d:87:ce:54:57 No interface found failedSetting up service network . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .failed

You mean to say if you reboot a few times the machine suddenly finds the modules again??? Which kernel is this? Which SuSE version? When the machine is fully booted (does it finish the boot process at all?) can you see the modules then? Are the modules in /lib/modules? What happens if you run 'depmod'? Are there any signs of file system corruption in the log?

Yes, everything is OK then.

Suse 9.1 Pro. 2.6.4-52-default

depmod: "thinks" a bit and says nothing.

Doesn't seem to be.

OK, and after you've done that, can you 'modprobe' one of the failed modules?

Hi Anders! Hi Taavi Dovnar! I just thought I'd interject here (for Anders) to say that I interpreted "Few reboots usually "helps"" to mean "usually, fewer reboots is better than more reboots" you may proceed... <g> regards, - Carl
