Hi, I have a linksys WPC11 version 3 wireless card which worked fine and dandy in 8.2. Now in 9.0, which runs ifup-dhcp for me whenever I start the network, the error message I get is signal 0/92 . The machine is able to connect to the internet through the eth0 card, but when I use the pcmcia card, despite the fact that I can hear it thp-thp-thhp-ing away, and iwconfig says: wlan0 IEEE 802.11-b ESSID:"linux" Nickname:"linux" Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:2.442GHz Cell: 02:06:80:E2:DE:5F Bit Rate:2Mb/s Tx-Power:2346 dBm Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:off Link Quality:0/92 Signal level:-69 dBm Noise level:-90 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 I set the ESSID at nothing (the way it used to be, just get what's out there) and tried setting it at a known ESSID, iwconfig seemed to be the same. I've also tried to set the connection type (ad hoc, etc) at automatic, still no beans. The part about link quality being 0/92 is patent nonsense, at least, I can confirm the wireless network is (a) working (b) has a massively powerful signal and (c) I hate to say it but the (ahem) windows XP laptop sitting next to my Suse laptop is using the same card (not the same model but the same CARD) perfectly fine. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'd sure like to get this working. Thanks in advance, nick
I forgot to say, the network is unprotected; just a straight up wifi connection to the internet, not involving any WEP at this point. On Tuesday 30 March 2004 16:25, Nick wrote:

It's been a day and I haven't gotten any feedback on this one, so I thought I'd repost ant try again. I'm just not sure how to begin troubleshooting it. Thanks in advance, nick On Tuesday 30 March 2004 16:25, Nick wrote:

Thanks in advance,
Nick: I cant help you with your problem but I have pretty much the same one trying to use a Belkin F5d7000 (Broadcom chip) with the Linuxant drivers. For a couple of weeks I have been searching all the docs I can find and so far I've drawn pretty much of a blank on deciphering the problem. I suspect the problem is simply some configuration screwup. I there anyone that has successfully installed EITHER card and would tell us how you did it??? Richard

Bummer. Since it worked so well in 8.2. I really need this to work - I do most of my work on the road and need Wifi accessibility. There imply MUST be a way to get this cracking. . . .
