Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: qtpixmap
Recognize this warning? I have read a lot of so called solutions in mailinglists, forums etcetera. Unfortunately these solutions were based on guessing and not research or facts. And yes, I am also a victim of the same warning and it annoyed the hell out of me. So I set out to solve it once and for all. The problem occurs (like some of you have correctly stated) when you upgrade gtk2 from 2.2.0 to 2.4.0. The problem lies in the QtPixmap-0.28-22.i586.rpm ftp://ftp.univie.ac.at/systems/linux/suse/i386/9.1/suse/i586/QtPixmap-0.28-2... package. It installs the qtpixmap libs to /opt/gnome/lib/gtk-2.0/2.2.0/engines but the upgraded gtk2 looks for the libraries in /opt/gnome/lib/gtk-2.0/2.4.0/engines. Solution: Move the files libqtpixmap.la and libqtpixmap.so from /opt/gnome/lib/gtk-2.0/2.2.0/engines to /opt/gnome/lib/gtk-2.0/2.4.0/engines. Hopefully this makes some people happy!

As I believe I'm the only one who have commented on it on this list, should I take that as a personal insult? I don't do guess work. Which part of http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=suse-linux-e&m=109357888210260&w=2 or http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=suse-linux-e&m=109923128432028&w=2 is not based on research or facts?
Solution:
Correction: Hack, not solution
Move the files libqtpixmap.la and libqtpixmap.so from
In rpm based distributions, it's bad form to just move files around, it will invalidate the rpm database. Besides which, you could potentially introduce subtle errors if the new lib isn't fully binary compatible

Well, I followed your suggestion, Anders, and recompiled QtPixmap a few days ago. Problem solved. Thank you. David -- Registered Linux User No 207521 The Linux Counter: http://counter.li.org/ "The above is my personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect that of the little voices in my head."
