I've decided to take the Linux Leap. I gotta say, I'm scared stiff and excited at the same time. I'm going to miss StarCraft, but I can deal. I have a few questions about conversions.
First the really good news. I heard that Starcraft will run under Wine, so you might not even need to miss it.
!.) How can I convert my IE5 bookmarks to Linux Netscape? 2.) How can I convert my saved E-mail in outlook express to the e-mail clients in Linux.
I don't know how, but I do now that tools for doing this exist. For the mail, you can cheat a bit by installing Eudora on your windows machine and tell it to import the mail from Outlook Express. Afterwards, you will find your mail folders in Eudora's directory. These folders are the same format as standard Unix/Linux mail folders, and can simply be copied over.
I bought Suse 7.0 and am slightly familiar with pine from college UNIX days. Should I try to convert to plain text and just save them? Or can I integrate them into my pine? Or is there a better E-mail client I should use for Linux
I was in a similar situation - my university used Pine on VMS, so I use Pine on Linux now. Other people like Mutt or Kmail or some plugin for Emacs. Just try out a few and use what you like. Unlike in Windows, most mailers on Linux use a standard file format, so switching between them is rather easy.
Also *any* other first-time-using-Linux-scared-stupid-how-can-I-make-this-easier advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to reply to my e-mail instead of the group if need be. I'm anxious to change but am scared by glibc's and all the other incredibly cryptic terms used in Linux.
Regards Ole

Maybe you can begin to install Linux in dedicated hd partition, or, better,
in a old slave hard-disk (2Gb it will be far sufficient) on secondary IDE
channel (so you can format it without problems, if you need). Leave for you
the chance to re-enter in win. With Lilo, or making during installation
process a linux boot floppy disk.
When done, *play* with Linux extensively and in relax, use "man
