Hi, I'm trying to do an NFS install but the install fails right after YAST is done with partitioning, With the Error "An Error occurred during the installation". This isn't particularly helpful; does any one have any suggestions? Try turning debugging on nfsd on the server side or look in /var/log/messages on the server to see if anything got spit out there. My bets are on its looking for a file called root, and can't find it.

I am SUCH a dips#@t. Please kick me. It worked. Here is another question, can you download only part of SuSE? Like just the sections you want or do you have to download the whole thing? With RedHat and Mandrake you have to download all of it, or the install will crash. I was just wondering what happens to YaST if it can't find a "package" it needs, or is there a way to rework a database or something to allow for smaller installs. Arthur H. Please see ftp.suse.com:/pub/suse/i386/7.3/README.FTP Also applies to NFS installations.

Yes, u can download the part of the packages, likewise, u really don't have to download the whole /suse/zq1 The yast is based on the files under /suse/setup/descr common.pkd common.ser and the language u choose, for instance, english.pkd and english.ser. the *.sel files are for the package selection. so, for minimum installation, u need to dl the /suse/a1 /suse/a2 /suse/images and /suse/setup that's all. But, unless u edit the files in /suse/setup/descr, the yast still shows that u have the full SuSE rpms on your hd or ftp. That really doesn't matter , all u have to beware of that not to select the packages which u didn't even download. Well, it won't "CRASH" though, just a warning appear. jsc
Never mind, it didnt work. Same error: ERROR: Unknown Error: Detail 0 PkgRetriever line 622 Arthur H. Johnson II arthur@linuxbox.nu The Linux Box http://www.linuxbox.nu On Tue, 27 Nov 2001, Christopher Mahmood wrote:
