What drive/controller combo are you using ? I had the same problems using the 2.6.8.1 kernel, because all the drive letters changed. I am using the SATA Via controller which suddenly became a scsi drive. Still don't understand why Linus is making these big changes ! I am stucking with 2.6.7 since that has been working very nice so far for quite some time. Eric

Very weird, though it's obvious that the kernel cannot find it's root partition. Somehow the new kernel assigns a different device name to your drive. IMHO ofcourse, that's the only thing I can think of right now ;). Eric -- Running Suse Linux 9.1 Pro
