Hi, I'm trying to figure out logresolv.. but reading the man hasnt helped. :-) I would like to simply resolve the IP addresses in my apache access.log. I use the DNS LookUp feature in Apache at the mo so it's only the old logs that need to fixed. (right now the access.log contains resolved and unresolved IP addresses) Thanks, Morsal
HEre is what I have in my crontab to do this:
/opt/apache/bin/logresolve < /opt/apache/logs/access_log >
/opt/apache/logs/resolved.log
Obviously, I don't have Apache in the SuSE default location.
Anyway it's $PATH_TO_LOGRESOLVE < $PATH_OF_ORIGINAL LOGFILE >
$DESTINATION_FILE_NAME
One thing that I want to do but haven't gotten figured out yet is the Apache
*rotatelogs* for logrotation.
Anyone have any ideas?
THanks!
Geordon

Hey Gordon!
Thanks for the help! I will try what u just told me and see how it goes.
Funny thing is that I have managed to get my logrotate to work. :) I did
this by adding the following to a file called "apache" in
"/etc/logrotate.d".
/var/log/apache/access_log {
missingok
postrotate
/usr/bin/killall -HUP apache
endscript
}
/var/log/apache/error_log {
missingok
postrotate
/usr/bin/killall -HUP apache
endscript
}
Just change /var/log/apache/ to the correct dir and you're done.
Thanks for helping me and I'm glad that I could help u back. :D
