Yes, it certainly is. For just a small server it is good. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.

For any useability, I'd recommend boosting the RAM to at least 16Mb... I have a 486DX33 w/24MB RAM, and it's been chugging along as a mail server and firewall since SuSE 6.4 came out :-) I wouldn't have thrown the mail at it unless it had that amount of RAM tho... -tosi
I will not run a server on this machine, it is a workstation.
Will I need more RAM to this workstation?

"Workstation" smells like "graphical desktop". Don't even try this with less than 64 MB - it is not worth the effort otherwise. This is a really funny situation - a small server (e.g. for print jobs or a low-volume web site) can be run with less resources than a desktop system today :) Bye, LenZ -- ------------------------------------------------------------------ Lenz Grimmer SuSE GmbH mailto:grimmer@suse.de Schanzaeckerstr. 10 http://www.suse.de/~grimmer/ 90443 Nuernberg, Germany This is the voice of world control. Oh Lenz, Where is your spirit of adventure. Yes, a windowmanager that is faster to use like afterstep as I mentioned or windowmaker works pretty well on a machine like this still. Oh Lenz,

It is perfect for a dumb X terminal too. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.
