Hi: I have a machine with the -7.104 kernel which is broken with cdrecord, and I want to back up to 2.6.5-7.95. Where is it on some ftp server? I see only 104 and the new 108 right now. Is the 108 kernel OK with cdrecord? Thanks. -- _____________________ Christopher R. Carlen crobc@earthlink.net SuSE 9.1 Linux 2.6.5

-108 is good Chris, get that one! Lee -- --- KMail v1.7 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 Those Who Dance Are Considered Insane, by Those Who Cannot Hear the Music!
Hi All, Why is it that I have now updated to this kernel and still cannot burn CDs. BTW, I have a Combo Drive. Since I installed SuSE 9.0 now 9.1, I have not been able to burn CDs. I had Mandrake on my machine for awhile and I have no problems. Thanks, Steve On Sunday 12 September 2004 13:54, BandiPat wrote:

Have you tried burning them from root? Hello Jim, Yes, I have tried it as root and that does not work as well. Thanks, Steve On Sunday 12 September 2004 17:58, Jim Sabatke wrote:

Steve, Ok, if you have not ever been able to burn cds, then it's very likely that your problem doesn't pertain to a kernel, wouldn't you think? Sounds as if you never got k3b setup correctly or your drive. Now the combo drives are usually more problematic and I think most of us agree, it's a good idea to stay away from them, if possible. Problem is that most laptops come standard with them. They do work, don't misunderstand me, but may take a bit more tinkering with links or fstab settings than normal single function drives. I think one of the problems you may run in too is that the OS just doesn't quite know how to interpret the drive type, so goes the safe route and sets it as a reader only. You need to look elsewhere for your problem though, it's not the kernel. Lee

From kernel-default-2.6.5-7.108.i586_en.info:
* CD and DVD writing fixed (mainly affected audio and video, as it only got triggered by unaligned/odd size writes, effect was a large memory leak and defective data on CD) Regards, -Kastus
