IP (HP JetDirect) Printing
Hi, How do I configure my system to print directly to an IP address (that's how printers are configured at work). I also use a JetDirect at home but (unlike work) I use a three port unit so that the same IP handles 2 (can handle 3) printers (an Epson 5700 Laser & an Epson 600 Stylus Colour) ... any idea how I can address these without going through the Windows server shares? If you use YaST2 to set up the printer, you can select Network Jet Direct as the printer type, at least with CUPS (not sure about LPD). Then, just give it the IP address of the JetDirect. CUPS will send the print job directly to port 9100 of the JetDirect. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Got spam? Get spastic http://spastic.sourceforge.net
