Alcatel adsl modem
I am thinking of switching from win xp to suse 8.0 and would like to know if the Alcatel SpeedTouch (pnp) PC Ver 2.1.4nz would be found on installing suse. I have looked the the help section but have not found anything.
As far as I know cable modems and DSL modems don't need to be detected, so you'd be fine. The modem sends a signal into your ethernet card and so long as your ethernet card(s) are recognized your fine. B.J.Rumsey wrote:

The Alcatel SpeedTouch (pnp) is a internal modem and connects to phone line
without the need fo a ethernet card, it's like a normal internal modem.

You will have to check www.alcatel.com - a couple of months ago when I looked there were no linux drivers for it available, they were "Coming Soon". Ewan On Wed, 2002-05-08 at 02:21, B.J.Rumsey wrote:

Hi

As an alternative you might want to have a look at...... http://www.dslsource.co.uk/products.asp?idProdType=2 quite a few people have switched to the The Speed Touch 510 ADSL Router which is proving to be something of a leader in the ADSL hardware market. Built in hardware firewall. Thanks -- Richard www.sheflug.co.uk
