[opensuse] Firefox stops working
Has anyone else noticed that Firefox stops working after it's been running for a while. When it fails, I can no longer go to or reload a web page. Wireshark shows there's no attempt to contact the site. Firefox has had performance issues for a while now, but it's getting worse. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It used to be days, now it's hours. I was using it at about 5PM today and when I came back at 9:30, the problem had occurred. After shutting it down and restarting, it was fine again. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Running version 20.0. Add-ins FireSSH 0.93.4 Garmin Communicator 4.0.4 HTTPS-Everywhere 3.2 openSUSE Firefox Extensions 1.0.2 ShowIP 2.0 Incidentally, there is also some discussion of this issue on a general Linux mail list, not just openSUSE. I'm not sure when the problem started, but it's definitely getting worse. Seamonkey also has an issue where it bogs down after a while, but nothing compared to this. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

32 or 64? Is this with IPv6?

Is it just the FF that freezes? Can you swithc tabs? Does it freeze the whole of the GUI? The whole of the machine? Can you just kill/restart FF or do yo have to restart the whole session? Reboot the machine? I ask because I have an ABSOLUTE freeze-up that I notice but then I'm in FF a lot. Of course it may be a BtrFS problem for me. -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, though not necessarily IPv6 sites. I've been running IPv6 on my network for about 3 years.

As I mentioned, Seamonkey also slows down, but nowhere near as bad as Firefox. I can switch tabs, scroll through the page etc. I just can't reload or go to another site. The rest of the computer is running fine. Just killing & restarting Firefox clears the problem.

Different from my problem then; I left FF up overnight and it still worked as it did at start-up, new pages by click on a url or by a url in a message in T'Bird. Over 40 tabs left open overnight so its not escaping on a light load :-) I have many plug-ins but none of the ones you have. I'd suspect problem in the plug-ins first, based on past experience. I've had then fail, interact badly, and stop FF from working in the past. And yes, work OK in one revision and be a problem in the next. -- The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important. --Dr. Martin Luther King Jr -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Nothing like that here, running 11.4, 4G RAM, no formal swapspace &: Konq 3, 1 window, ~dozen tabs FF 20.1 repo rpm, 1 window, too many tabs to count FF 3.6.28 from mozilla.org, 1 window, dozen tabs FF 2.0.0.20 from mozilla.org, 1 window, ~20 tabs SM 2.18b4 from mozilla.org, 1 CZ window, browser window with too many tabs to count SM 2.17.1 from mozilla.org, mailnews window, browser window with too many tabs to count lots of other apps sprawled across 8 desktops, and multiple logins on the ttys -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." I think I've fixed the problem. I recreated the directory ~/.mozilla/firefox and now Firefox is running much better than it has in a long time. It's gone an entire 24 hours, with no sign of slowdown. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
