This used to be easy by editing flags in rc.config in SuSE 7.3. In SuSE 8.0 it's not obvioud in the manual and poking around /etc/ was not real obvious either. Now I'm starting them in boot.local which seems wrong. Thanks. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! Music Experience http://launch.yahoo.com
This was recently covered ( like earlier today ! ) The archive IS your friend. chkconfig --add apache chkconfig --add samba and very probably chkconfig --add netatalk ( given that you have an /etc/init.d/netatalk ) Config files are in /etc/sysconfig --tosi On Wed, 2002-05-22 at 23:04, Scheme Loh wrote:

Believe it or not, I searched google, google limited to this list, and read the last of couple of days of the list, and saw nothing, so, I did at least try. what seems to be working for me is: chkconfig smb 5 chkconfig atalk 5
chkconfig --add apache chkconfig --add samba
and very probably
chkconfig --add netatalk ( given that you have an /etc/init.d/netatalk )
thanks, "chkconfig" is new to me. I've never been no good at this booting runlevel thing and now that everything has been moved around, you can imagine how much "fun" I'm having... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi, all the start variables have gone from Yast in SuSE 8.0 ... if you want to enable something on startup you have two possibilities: 1. insserve OPTIONS Currently there is only two options for insserv. -r Remove the listed scripts from all runlevels. -d Use default runlevels a defined in the scripts. This may restore an edited runlevel link scheme. But you may use the argument syntax described in the fol lowing section. 2. Yast You can enable the startup-options with Yast-System-Runlevel-Editor and here look for the runlevel properties Oliver -- ... don't touch the bang-bang fruit ...
