If you go to the Sane website you will find a list of compatible scanners. JLK On Sunday 29 April 2001 05:17, Landy Roman wrote:

Hi, This is on SuSE 7.0... I'm currently using Apache, as out of the box but with a few ammendments so I can access it from the Windoze box on my network. I'm not a web site expert, I'm an applications programmer, but it falls to me to see what is and isn't available as we move our stuff over to Linux. Zope looked pretty interesting so I installed it using YAST2, but I'm not sure what to do next. I kinda assumed YAST would close down the current version of httpd and fire up the Zope server, but it didn't :( I really need some help to get me started, if anyone has a bit of patience then I'd be grateful for the assistance. Also on a related topic is there a book on the Zope server I can get hold of? Alan

Set START_ZOPE in rc.config to yes. Zope will come up on port 8080 by default. On my home server I've disabled Apache and set Zope to run on port 80 in the start script. I don't bother with PCGI. Check out /usr/share/doc/packages/zope/README.SuSE for information on getting into the management screens (I'm not going to broadcast default user/pw on this list...). Change the password with z2passwd.py. Also, go to zope.org and the many Zope newbie sites out there. Add a tutorial object in your Zope installation and go through it. It's pretty daunting at first but it's very well worth it. I'm a much happier guy, especially with ZWiki. Unfortunately, there is no one resource for quickly learning everything. Documentation gets better all the time, however. I hope you enjoy it. - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.4 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE67X9i+FOexA3koIgRAs2KAKCdQvHaO9qshZSg/7G0VM9srIgFswCeP7j4 vcE6N6ea3ykQO6G/XPHAnKU= =EAPb -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
I've read somewhere (on the sane site I believe), that Epson USB scanners are best supported... I bought a MicroTek Phantom 336CX parallel scanner... can't get it to do anything :-( I wish you better luck
