[opensuse] Youtube video: "An error occurred, please try again later."
When I try to watch a youtube video I always ger the following message: "An error occurred, please try again later." This occurs in firefox, seamonkey and chromium. I have installed different versions of flash player from the openSUSE repo, which did not solve the problem. I also disabled hardware acceleration in flash player settings. The network download speed is ~10 Mb/s. The system is openSUSE 13.1 with default KDE 4.11.5. I have no idea what to look for. Can it be related to graphics driver (ATI catalyst, glrx64_xpic_SUSE131-14.10.1006-1.x86_64)? What to look for? - Enable the html5 player in youtube.com/html5 - Ensure gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mp3 gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ffmpeg (this one from packman) are installed. - flash player is broken beyond repair (in fact it won't be repaired ..ever) -- Cristian "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The difference is that Flash player is still maintained and developed for windows.. adobe only fixes security bugs in the linux version. -- Cristian "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thank you for answering.
- Enable the html5 player in youtube.com/html5 - Ensure gstreamer-0_10-fluendo-mp3 gstreamer-0_10-plugins-ffmpeg (this one from packman) are installed.
These do not help to find out why flash player doesn't work.
- flash player is broken beyond repair (in fact it won't be repaired ..ever)
But I have another computer where the same version of flash player and firefox works perfectly with youtube videos. There must be some other reason they don't work on this system. In the meantime I experimented with the system. Earlier I disabled pulseaudio. I enabled it, and flash player started to work. But I don't like pulseaudio running. Is pulseaudio an obligatory thing in openSUSE 13.1 or KDE4? Can I make flashplayer work without pulseaudio, using ALSA as sound server? It's a server-side error at youtube.com It seems to occur most often when you have a page open for several hours before trying to watch the video content. Just reload the page. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, I have been getting this error a lot lately when I try to watch YouTube videos during the workday hours. The later in the evening it is, the less this message pops up. For me at least, it has nothing to do with how long the page is open. If one video won't play properly, often another will. So I am flexible and switch. But it would be better if this error could be resolved. Mark -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

As I wrote before, it probably was a sound configuration issue, because enabling pulseaudio fixed the problem. I can watch youtube videos now using the flashplayer plugin. Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, well okay. I saw you write something like that some time ago, then went on a business trip for a few days. I assumed that the resolution to the problem hadn't been found because the thread was still open with fresh new suggestions to fix the problem. But for me the real clincher to think that the problem wasn't fixed was that my pulseaudio was already enabled when you wrote the suggestion the first time, and I still have the problem with youtube. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I got - and occasionally still get - this error message. It usually comes up when YouTube is overloaded. Calling back at a later time results in no error message. (And I am using an nVidia card AND pulseaudio.) Just to follow-up on the above, following Cristian's comment I switched over to HTML5 and am getting the error message. It appears that the site is under load (for some reason).
