-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Boot: Reiserfs cannot read journal table, FS is obviously corrupted.... SH*T!!!! Grab DVD 1 for 8.2, boot: Choose "manual installation", load modules - reiserfs, loaded. Choose rescue system, loads into ramdisk, done. fdisk -l /dev/hdb Root partition is /dev/hdb6 "reiserfschk --check /dev/hdb6" Starts, yada yada yada, ends - Sure enough bad blocks - corruptions, instructs me to run "reiserfschk --rebuild-tree /dev/partition_table. "reiserfschk --rebuild-tree /dev/hdb6" Starts, finds journal table, yada yada yada, map, allocate, rewrite, repair.... yada! runs a few integrity checks, ends. Reboot: BOOYA! Problem solved. badblocks? As far as I know, reiserfs doesn't handle them. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

My bad, bottom line it was corrupted. Could read it and therefore no boot at partition read. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/g0x7iqnGhdjCOJsRAujDAJ0R7FZlaAXf1lH8FkECI6yvkXdLNACeJ30P //TaqPgoUdn63GzETXNS9Ho= =4bjZ -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Yes, I remembered and I finally read it yesterday. Ough! That's the best I can say. Not good at all! What it says is to mark all those bad sectors as used by some sort of faked file; but the first time there is a file check they will be reset to unused. That's no handling at all of badblocks, in my opinion. Why wasn't it included in the reiserfs design? There must be a good reason. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
