I have just installed opensuse 11.1 I cannot install any new software, since the 'install software' utility does not start. I have tried to get kpackage from the suse web site, to be installed by 'rpm -i', but it requires a library (kde4-kpackage-4.2.0-28.20.i586) with a version that is not available. Any hints? Thank you ---P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What you have used to install, CD or DVD? What you did and what happened? Is it update or installation from scratch? Is that something like here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=459268 -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It is installation from scratch via network I guess something went wrong during my detailed specification about which packages were to be included, during the installation process: is it possible that any important utilities have been un-selected by the system?

I will try ' zypper ' I am new to 'suse'. Any web page to recall the essentials for the sys-admin? Thank you ---Pol -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

An easier method might be yast2 sw_single at command line or if you installed the "yast system administration" and "yast installation packages" patterns and are running kde or another gui look for system administration under the system menu item. If you still get problems post zypper lr which will give a list of your repositories. Suse help has a wealth of admin stuff. if you are an admin, like your sig seems to say, you can open an xterm or any console if you do'nt have a GUI and use "yast" in ncurse mode jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-eic8MSSfM http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1412160445 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
