Ps & segmentation faults
I've seen this occur on two different machines running two different version of SuSE when I've been ssh'd in. When running "/usb/bin/w" I get a print out of: jonathan@jaguar:~> w 4:50pm up 1 min, 1 user, load average: 1.31, 0.40, 0.14 USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT But then I get a Segmentation Fault message. This has occurred on both SuSE 8.1 pro & SLES7. Would /proc be corrupted? I could run "who" and be ok. A reboot fixed it. But why? Jonathan Paul Cowherd Linux and Java Administrator Genscape, Inc. No. Are you running the kernel update with the ptrace security fix? http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-security-announce/2003-Mar/0011.html There have been reports of strange things like this happening. -- -ckm
